Kelowna students get taste of life as an RCMP officer

Ready to 'protect and serve'

A group of Kelowna students got a taste of what it's like to "protect and serve this week.

Local middle school students spent Wednesday at the Kelowna RCMP Detachment as part of National Take Our Kids to Work Day.

"The day’s activities brought police work to life and gave kids a sense of what's possible with the RCMP," said Cst. Lesley Smith, School Resource Officer.

"Students were involved in active Police scenarios which required the use of the Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Unit, the Operations Communication Centre and many more RCMP Resources."

The children got a chance to watch multiple demonstrations and presentations from different departments, including the Tactical Troop, K-9 and Emergency Response Team.
