Fourth company set to Roll out e-scooter rentals in Kelowna

New e-scooter launch

Just a week after city council voiced reservations about the safety of e-scooters along the Kelowna waterfront, a fourth company is set to unveil its bike- and scooter-share program.

"Roll" is scheduled to roll out its e-scooter rentals this weekend. A media event is being held Sunday near the Queensway tourism centre.

Roll is one of six companies the city has permitted to provide bikeshare throughout Kelowna.

However, only three, ZIP, OGO and Bunny operated through the summer.

According to the city's website, Roll has agreed to provide 100 e-scooters and 50 e-bikes for use. The company has said it will only be rolling out the e-scooters for now.

The e-bikes will be made available in the spring.

Two other companies, Spin and Loop, have been issued permits, but have yet to start operating.

Loop is the only company offering electric mopeds.
