Appointments open for Salvation Army Christmas program

In need of help this Xmas?

With Christmas only weeks away, the Salvation Army is opening registration for its annual Sharing Christmas Food &Toy Program in the Central Okanagan.

More than 600 families were helped with Christmas hampers through last year's program, including toys for 1,100 children from Peachland to Lake Country.

Kelowna Salvation Army executive director Darryl Burry says it's important that families book early, as demand increases for the program.

"We desire to ensure that no one falls through the cracks during this special season of love and giving. However, in order to meet the demands placed upon us, we would respectfully ask that all families set up an appointment to register as soon as possible."

The Salvation Army experienced a 47 per cent increase in demand during the first six months of 2019.

“We could not provide this blessing without the tremendous support of the community,” says Burry. “From financial donations to the donation of food products and new toys ... each contribution helps us to provide hope and dignity to families right here in our community.”
