Kelowna RCMP looking for driver who hit pedestrian in August

Cops seek hit & run driver

Kelowna RCMP are seeking additional evidence on a driver who was involved in a hit and run back on Aug. 17.

Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Bernard Avenue near Lakeview Street about 6:40 p.m. that evening. The injured pedestrian was rushed to hospital by ambulance, with serious injuries.

The vehicle involved in the collision did not remain on the scene. However, an arrest was made shortly afterwards. Police are now seeking more information on the vehicle's movements.

The injured pedestrian has since been released from hospital and has support from family, police say.

“The vehicle involved was described to be an older model grey Ford Focus sedan and was last seen driving eastbound up Bernard Avenue,” says Cpl. Meghan Foster.

“The front bumper, hood and windshield were noticeably damaged as a result of the collision. Anyone that may have seen this vehicle in the following hours is asked to contact police.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.crimestoppers.net.
