Kelowna band Cover2Cover hosts event for food bank

Singing for another's supper

Kelowna classic rock band Cover2Cover will be singing for someone else's supper this month with a costume dance event dedicated to raising funds for the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

As well as performances from the band, the Hollywood-themed 'Night at the Movies' event will feature best costume prizes, a live electric guitar auction, photobooth and free popcorn.

Meat and vegetarian chili options and a variety of beverages will be available for purchase, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Band member Kim Rhindress says the demand for food bank services in Kelowna made it an obvious choice of charity.

“When we were looking for a charity to support, the food bank was a natural choice as the need is unfortunately so great here. Kelowna tends to be perceived as a wealthy city, and we were shocked to learn 4,000 families in our community rely on the food bank every month."

'Night at the Movies' takes place 8 p.m., Oct. 26 at the Ukrainian Church Hall, 1091 Coronation Ave.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $25, or door tickets will be $35. To get your tickets, visit www.cover2coverkelowna.com or phone band member Jim Rhindress at 250-317-5233.
