Live: candidates debate

All but two candidates in the Kelowna-Lake Country riding will be attending a debate on environmental issues at UBC Okanagan Thursday night.

The debate is one of 100 similar debates being held across Canada Thursday.

“100 Debates on the Environment is a non-partisan and politically neutral project initiated by GreenPAC that aims to bring voters together at the riding level to hear candidates' best policy ideas for the environment,” the event page states.

All 100 debates across the country will include four questions that focus on climate change, wilderness conservation, water, and pollution.

According to organizers, Kelowna-Lake Country candidates in attendance will include incumbent Liberal candidate Stephen Fuhr, Green Party candidate Travis Ashley, People's Party of Canada candidate John Barr, NDP candidate Justin Kulik and independent candidate Daniel Joseph.

Conservative Party candidate Tracy Gray and independent candidate Silverado Socrates have not confirmed their attendance.

The debate will begin at 7 p.m., and Castanet will be live streaming it.

A similar debate is being held in Peachland Thursday evening for Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola candidates, but Green Party candidate Robert Mellalieu and NDP candidate Joan Phillip are the only candidates who have confirmed their attendance.

That debate is being live streamed here at 6:30 p.m.
