Sails lit for a cause

If you notice The Sails in downtown Kelowna lit up in the colour teal tonight, it's not an accident.

The City of Kelowna will be lighting up the iconic sculpture at dusk to help raise awareness for Tourette's syndrome.

Tourette's is a neurological disorder involving facial and other body tics, usually beginning in childhood or adolescence.

Kari Hodgson with Tourette Canada says: "Many people know Tourette's as a condition where people yell out swearing, profanities, that is something that is portrayed in the media, but only happens in about 10 per cent of cases."

Hodgson says, "if people are looking for support, they can contact [email protected] or the organization's Facebook page.
