New Costco plans unveiled

A development plan for a proposed new Costco has been submitted to the City of Kelowna and they include a new gas bar close to Springfield Road and Leckie.

The detailed plans show the new building would go on a piece of land that is currently unoccupied near the southwest corner of Baron and Leckie Roads. The farmland is not included in the Agricultural Land Reserve but would still need a zoning change if it is to proceed.

The detailed plans show a larger square footage than the current Costco and the plans include a gas bar.

The documents, submitted by WSP Canada Group indicate the square footage at close to 160,000 and there is a garden centre and tire shop.

The plan is detailed down to the landscaping and number of parking stalls, 812.

The application is not set in stone and needs to be approved by city planners but it is a big step forward from what we have heard so far and clearly not in West Kelowna.
