Your say on city's future

You can help shape Kelowna's future – by giving input at a series of city expos.

The Kelowna 2040 expositions will guide how and where the city grows over the next 20 years.

That growth is defined by documents such as the Official Community Plan, Transportation Master Plan and 20-year Servicing Plan.

Based on the 2040 growth scenario endorsed by council last spring, a draft future land use map has been developed to form one part of the overall growth strategy that will guide decisions on rezonings, investment in amenities and transportation, and prioritize utility and servicing improvements.

The expos will feature displays and hands-on activities that will show potential 2040 outcomes.

The OCP and TMP are framework plans that will guide our future land use and transportation investments to create a future city that is healthy, livable and sustainable” says Danielle Noble-Brandt, the city's policy and planning department manager.

Expo dates are as follows:

  • Sept. 19, Kelowna Community Theatre, 3:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 21, Rutland Boys and Girls Club, 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Sept. 25, Capital News Centre, 3:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 28, Orchard Park Mall, 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Residents unable to attend can give feedback online from Sept. 16 to Oct. 4 at kelowna.ca/kelowna2040.
