TOTA up for global honour

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association will be recognized this week at the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s 23rd general assembly in Russia.

The event is taking place Monday through Friday in Saint Petersburg, and TOTA will be recognized during the awards show as one of three finalists for the work it has been doing in the area of sustainable, responsible tourism.

More than 150 countries are taking part in the general assembly, and TOTA reports that more than 190 tourism organizations applied for the award.

The entire week will focus on sustainable, responsible tourism, according to TOTA president and CEO Glenn Mandziuk.
