Car fire at Crystal Waters

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.

Motorists tell Castanet the fire has now been cleared and traffic is flowing smoothly in both directions.

UPDATE 6 p.m.

A small sedan has burned completely to its shell, according to motorists. 

Southbound traffic is backed up about two kilometres from the scene. 

A tow truck has just arrived to clear the wreck.

ORIGINAL 4:35 p.m.

A car fire is reported on Highway 97 in Lake Country.

Thick smoke can be seen rising from the fire in the southbound lanes, north of Crystal Waters.

Northbound traffic is still moving.

Fire crews are on scene.
