UBC student celebrations

The second annual UBC alumni and student celebration "Homecoming" will be taking place September 27 and 28.

“We are looking forward to welcoming UBC alumni back to campus for our second annual Homecoming,” said Adrienne Nolan, executive director of development and alumni engagement.

“It’s a wonderful time for both alumni and students at UBC Okanagan, and for the wider community to visit and enjoy the experience. Our campus is still young and each year we are establishing traditions that build a long-lasting sense of community and connection with the university.”

The open-air kickoff breakfast is taking place September 27, along with the Discovery Expo Faculty showcases.

Homecoming activities on September 28 include:

  • Discover U, free UBCO heat soccer matches, with women playing at 1:00 p.m. and men at 3 p.m., at the Nonis Sports Field.
  • Scavenger hunt at 5 p.m., with a $20 fee to register a team of four.
  • Saturday Night Street Fest from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with food, drinks, games and prizes available.
  • Supper with Steve dinner and comedy special at 5:30 p.m., in The Commons with a $65 fee for reception.

Supper with Steve is hosted by the award-winning host of CBC Radio's The Debaters, Steve Patterson.

Taking place in the new Commons building on campus, the $65 tickets provide a pre-reception, long-table dinner, performance by Patterson and a dessert reception.

At the 2011 and 2013 Canadian Comedy Awards, Patterson was awarded the Best Male Stand-up Comedian award and in 2016, Patterson toured nationwide performing his one man show, This is Not Debatable.

The third annual UBC Okanagan Heat and Heat Alumni Golf Tournament will be taking place at the Okanagan Golf Club on September 28, where the first Canada West Golf Championship will be taking place this fall.
