Mobile dental clinic coming

The Central Okanagan Foundation has successfully launched a partnership with Hands in Service, bringing Kelowna a mobile dental hygiene clinic.

Starting in September, eligible individuals will have access to the first mobile dental service in the region.

Those with low-income, health and accessibility challenges may be eligible for the services.

Starting with two days a week, the mobile clinic will travel within Kelowna, allowing wheelchair access to those who need it.

Equipped with a wheelchair lift, two registered dental hygienists will run the fully equipped RV.

“We look forward to partnering with dental care professionals and other non-profit and community agencies to provide excellent dental care to all individuals," said executive director of Hands in Service, Patricia Goertzen.

“This is a wonderful example of what happens when creative funding partnerships meet a critical need in
our community,” added Laurence East, executive director of Central Okanagan Foundation.

“The foundation’s purpose is to make our community a more resilient, thriving, place to live. We are delighted
to see this project become a success.”

They are hosting two open houses to introduce the program Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Trinity Church on Springfield Road.
