Hobo wins pot shop race

Kelowna’s first retail recreational cannabis store finally opened its doors Thursday morning.

Customers gathered outside the front door of Hobo Recreational Cannabis Store, waiting for 10 a.m. to arrive so they could become the first ones to purchase legal weed within Kelowna city limits.

“We’re right beside a mall, basically in central Kelowna,” Donnelly Group vice-president Harrison Stoker said just before 10 o’clock.

“Our store is incredibly approachable. People might equate it to getting a latte at Starbucks or picking up an iPhone at the Apple Store.

“It’s really disarming. It’s really simple. People are really going to gravitate towards the store experience here.”
