Kelowna city council has paved the way for more parking at Kelowna International Airport.
Council Monday gave initial reading to a rezone a piece of property from A1 Agricultural to the CD12 Airport zone.
The proposal would add a 600 stall gravel/asphalt milling parking lot on the property between the long-term parking lot and Shadow Ridge Golf Course, to be used for valet vehicle storage.
As part of the airport's continued growth, there is a need to expand parking as part of expansions plans identified in the Airport Master Plan.
The new parking lot is expected to be constructed this year.
