Celeb chillin' at YLW

There has been another star sighting in the Okanagan.

Canadian-American actor Kim Coates was spotted at the airport in Kelowna recently.

Trevor René Martin was on his way to Prince George and spotted a familiar face hunkered down in the waiting area.

"I walked up to him and was like, dude, I recognize and I'm a big fan!"

Coates plays Declan Gardiner in the Citytv series Bad Blood, which can be seen on Netflix.

Martin says he had a great chat with Coates, who often comes to Kelowna to visit family.

Coates' film career began in 1991 with The Last Boy Scout. Two Warner Brothers hits followed – Innocent Blood and The Client. Since then, he has starred in over 40 films, including Academy Award winners Black Hawk Down, directed by Ridley Scott, and Pearl Harbor, directed by Michael Bay.

Coates has also worked on Broadway, starring as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire, and in the lead role of Macbeth performed at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. Coates is also well known for his role as Alexander "Tig" Trager in the FX series Sons of Anarchy.

Coates was born in Saskatoon, to Frederick and Joyce Coates.

Coates was repping his home province and wearing a Saskatchewan hat when spotted at YLW.

According to Martin, Coates is a down to earth guy and had no problem posing for a few pictures.

"We shot the sh*t for a bit and right at the end I was like, 'man I got to ask if can I get a pic.' He took a couple (pictures).  He grabbed my phone and snapped a few, and we chatted for a bit. I'm a big fan of his."

Martin says he just finished watching season two of Bad Blood, so he couldn't miss recognizing him.

"He was laying low, he had his hat and shades on, head down. I looked over, and I'm like I recognize that guy. Every pic, he's got that same look – that must be his Blue Steel."
