Missing senior found

A missing senior with dementia has been found safe after a wide search.

Search manager with Central Okanagan Search and Rescue Duane Tresnich says Cathy Wilson was found by a friend about three kilometres away from the Rutland care home she wandered from.

Tresnich says the search for Cathy included a helicopter, e-bike team, ground crews on foot and in personal vehicles in support of RCMP.

The Kelowna RCMP has turned to the public for help finding a missing senior with dementia. 

Cathy Wilson, 65, wandered away from her care facility in the 100 block of Davie Road in Rutland at about 3 p.m. Wednesday. 

Police say she gets very confused due to her dementia. 

She is described as five-foot-two, 160 pounds with short salt and pepper hair with glasses. She was last seen wearing a black dress shirt with white flowers, knee length khaki shorts, green socks and pink running shoes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300.
