An undercover drug trafficking investigation in Kelowna has resulted in dozens of arrests.
Kelowna RCMP's Downtown Enforcement Unit continues to make arrests this week, following a multi-phase undercover operation that spanned May and June.
RCMP will be forwarding as many as 49 charges, for consideration against 32 subjects.
Police allege that buys of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine were made during the undercover operation.
"Identifying those persons responsible for the sale and distribution of illicit and dangerous drugs on our streets is a high priority for the Kelowna RCMP," says the DEU's Sgt. Greg Woodcox. "Our front line will continue to take actions in an effort to reduce the supply of deadly illicit substances being trafficked in our community, and take steps to identify suppliers both locally and regionally."
In 2018, undercover drug operations in Kelowna resulted in 99 individuals charged with 172 counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.
On Monday, one of those accused of trafficking heroin in 2018 was sentenced in Kelowna courts. Joey Derrick Point, 28, of Kelowna was sentenced to 42 months in jail for five counts of trafficking.
