Police incidents connected

UPDATE: 9:30 p.m.

RCMP have confirmed an incident on Arab Road Monday afternoon was connected to a lengthy standoff at a home on Bryden Road.

According to RCMP, a homeowner in the 100 block of Arab Road was stabbed when he confronted the suspect, who then apparently carjacked a vehicle and fled the neighbourhood.

Both the male homeowner and the female driver were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect was eventually arrested after a lengthy standoff with police.

Kelowna RCMP have blocked off a portion of Arab Road in the area just west of Reid's Corner.

According to some witnesses, the road has been blocked for at least two hours.

Police cruisers are at either end of Arab Road, blocking the road between Sexsmith and Appaloosa roads.

A bicycle can be seen on the road.

Police have not yet commented as to why they have blocked off the area, or whether it is somehow involved with events on Bryden Road.
