Injured biker rescued

UPDATE: 3:30 p.m.

A female mountain biker has been taken to hospital after injuring her leg on a trail in Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park.

Kelowna firefighters were called by BCAS to assist them in reaching the injured biker who was on Lost Lake Trail near the end of Stewart Road East at about 1 p.m.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue was also contacted and requested a helicopter to attend the scene.

“Paramedics decided that the utility vehicle was the way to transport the patient to the waiting ambulance,” said Platoon Capt. Tim Light.

She was then transported to hospital and there has been no update on the extent of her injuries.

“Kelowna Fire Department would like to thank the COSAR personnel for attending and always appreciate their team's assistance,” said Light.

The fire department reminds hikers and bikers to always let someone else know where they are headed.

Okanagan Search and Rescue crews are supporting the Kelowna Fire Department in rescuing an injured mountain biker at Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park on Sunday.

A gator utility vehicle is being used to reach the female patient who is about three to four kilometres in on the Lost Lake Trail.

Emergency crews along with search and rescue are rushing to Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park for an injured mountain biker on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to Stewart Road East at about 1:10 p.m. COSAR appears to have been requested as well.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the mountain biker injured their leg.
