Bus pull for United Way

Once again, Kelowna residents are training hard to pull a city bus across the Prospera Place parking lot.

The annual charity event will see teams of eight community members hit the parking lot on May 25 for the round-robin bus pull tournament, all to benefit the Southern Interior United Way.

This year, 17 teams made up of a total of 96 people are set to participate. With two and a half weeks to go, just over $8,300 has been raised by participants, with the Nature's Fare Market team raising the most so far with $1,500.

The United Way's fundraising goal for the event is $20,000.

The United Way supports a number of causes in the community, ranging from helping young kids living in poverty, to struggling families, to isolated elderly people.

Those looking to donate to the cause this year can do so on the United Way's website.
