Family Hub needs help

A fundraising campaign to support Kelowna's Family Hub kicked off Friday that hopes to raise major dollars to allow the spot to keep providing resources and play space for families with kids aged 0-12.

The Family Hub has had over 12,000 visitors and 1,617 referrals to over 35 child serving agencies in the community over the past three years, They offer their services for free, and they are hoping to raise $100,000 over the next month in order to keep the doors open.

On Friday they launched the Do a Lot for a Little campaign, which will run until June 14. So far they have $40,360 of their $100,000 goal, thanks to donations ahead of the launch.

Individual and corporate donations will go directly to keeping the Hub open and available to families, and Kelowna Community Resources has a few ideas of how people can participate:

  • An employee team building fundraiser – think Casual Fridays or BBQ Social.
  • Host a fundraiser or sale – clear out your garage or closets and hold a sale, or get the kids to run a Lemonade Stand and donate the proceeds to the Hub.
  • Join us at the Family Hub on Friday June 14 for a Drive Thru Breakfast sponsored by Peter’s Your Independent Grocer.
  • Challenge – follow in the Pearson Road Elementary PACs footsteps and challenge someone in your world, your colleagues, or competitor or friends, to match your donation.

Direct donations can be made here, and all donations above $25 will be given a tax receipt.
