Alleged kidnapper skips bail

One of five alleged kidnappers arrested in March has jumped bail.

After a man was dropped off at Kelowna General Hospital suffering from serious injuries on Feb. 27, police made several arrests across Kelowna two days later.

Police believe the victim in the kidnapping had gone to a Kelowna home on Feb. 24 to buy drugs, but he was allegedly assaulted and held against his will for three days before he was dropped off at KGH.

Clayton Zeleniski, 48, Dalton Zeleniski, 18, Shane Haines, 32, Timothy Hennessy, 37, and Nicole Sidhu, 24, were all charged with various offences, including kidnapping, robbery, unlawful confinement, assault causing bodily harm, and aggravated assault. All have since been released on bail.

On March 26, Haines was charged with breaching his bail conditions, and a provincewide warrant has been issued for him after he failed to show up for a court date.

Earlier in March, just four days after she was released on bail, Sidhu was also charged with breaching her bail conditions, but she remains lawfully out of custody on bail.

All five accused are scheduled to next appear in court on May 7.
