24-hour water advisory

The Black Mountain Irrigation District has issued a 24-hour water quality advisory.

The water utility says it experienced a "substantial watermain break" at the McCurdy Business Centre on Tuesday morning.

"The break stirred up sediment in the watermain which may cause visible turbidity in your water. This is a temporary condition," the district says in a news release.

"If discoloured water appears, please run taps until clear."

Despite the turbidity, both disinfection and treatment process remain in full operation.

Repairs are underway, and BMID crews will be flushing the system as soon as they are able.

It's recommended users wishing a higher level of protection should boil water or obtain water from a safe, alternative source.

The advisory does not affect water users in Scotty Creek.
