'I felt gut punched'

Alanna Kelly

A Kelowna construction company is struggling after a trailer full of equipment was stolen from a job site Monday morning.

Little Lakes Contracting parked and locked the trailer on Mine Hill Drive, and when staff showed up to work Monday morning, it was gone.

“I felt gut punched… I spend all this time and money trying to build something, and then someone comes and takes it in the middle of the night,” said Hugh Little.

He thinks the trailer was stolen between 4 and 6 a.m. because a dry spot remained on the sidewalk and it was raining Monday morning. A broken lock and wood remained at the site.

Little says the equipment is worth about $12,000.

“A Skilsaw nowadays is almost $200, and we had six of those in there… that’s a bunch of money out the window,” said Little.

Police say they are investigating the theft.

“I’m thinking they need to do a sting operation ... set one of these up and catch these guys because they are ripping guys like me off trying to make a living,” said Little.

Anyone who spots the white trailer with the Little Lakes Construction logo should contact RCMP.
