More bike paths on the way

Portions of Kelowna's Sutherland Avenue and Pandosy Street will be closed beginning Monday for the first phase of the Sutherland Avenue protected bike lane project.

It's expected construction will wrap up in late July.

Sutherland will be closed between Richter and Ethel streets, while the westbound lane on Sutherland will be closed between Richter and the Mill Creek bridge.

Two-way traffic will be maintained at the Pandosy and Sutherland intersection.

Along with a protected bike lane, construction crews will also upgrade traffic signals, utilities, improve street lighting, replace sidewalks between Richter and Ethel, and put in a new multi-use pedestrian/cyclist bridge at Mill Creek.

Once that work is complete, crews will shift their focus to Phase 4 of the Ethel Street active transportation corridor between Sutherland and Springfield Road.
