Saskatchewan – Christopher Hill, Taste Restaurant Group

Christopher Hill grew up in a small town in central Saskatchewan, where life on a farm meant hard work and an appreciation of where your food comes from. This foundation of a strong work ethic and love for fresh, farm to table cuisine has formed the backbone of his career. His first job in a professional kitchen was washing dishes but he soon developed a passion for the restaurant business and love of great food. Hill spent the next several years developing his skills and working his way up through the brigade which led him to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, where he studied the Culinary Arts as an apprentice.

After completing his studies he was hired as Sous Chef of a private dining club in South Western Ontario where he was able to develop “hand crafted” menus using locally sourced ingredients. Hill was then hired as Executive Chef of Elk Ridge Resort and was tasked with opening the hotel and developing a brand new team.

Chef Hill went on to hone his skills in the Canadian Rockies as Restaurant Chef at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise where he oversaw three restaurants.

Chef Hill returned home to Saskatchewan with the appointment of Executive Chef of the historic Delta Bessborough Hotel.  Soon after taking his position at “The Bess”, Chef Chris was crowned Champion of the 2014 Saskatoon Gold Medal Plates competition.  From there he went on to compete head to head against some of Canada’s most elite chefs at the 2015 Canadian Culinary Championships in Kelowna.

Most recently, Chef Hill accepted a position as Corporate Chef for Taste Restaurant Group.  TRG is a locally owned group that has UNA pizza + wine, Picaro, Bar Gusto and the recently opened Cohen’s Beer Republic.
