YLW may see more fog

UPDATE: 4:20 p.m.

While the fog cleared around Kelowna International Airport for much of Saturday, after causing some delays and cancellations earlier in the morning, it may be coming back.

"Based on the weather forecast we have, there's certainly a potential for more fog, getting into the late afternoon and evening," said YLW airport manager Sam Sammadar.

As of 4:20 p.m., a single Air Canada flight from Vancouver is delayed by 20 minutes, but this is not believed to be due to fog.

Sammadar recommends travellers to keep an eye on YLW's website for updates on delays or cancellations.

UPDATE: 10:30 a.m.

Visibility has improved at Kelowna International Airport, but passengers may still experience delays, YLW has tweeted.

Check and monitor the status of your flight on your airline's website or at http://ylw.kelowna.ca, the airport advises.

ORIGINAL: 7:20 a.m.

Fog is causing flight delays and cancellations this morning at Kelowna International Airport.

YLW tweeted about 6 a.m. that "delays and cancellations are expected today due to heavy fog. Please check your air carrier for up to date information."

According to travellers, several cancellations were reported last night by holidaymakers returning from Mexico, and two failed attempts at landing ended with a flight diverted to Vancouver, and then Calgary.

YLW's website reports three delayed arrivals this morning and two cancelled departures, as well as three delayed flights from various airports.
