Cyclist hit in Rutland

UPDATE: 1:30 p.m.

A witness in the drive thru at Tim Hortons says a cyclist who was struck at Hollywood Road and Highway 33 in Rutland was acting erratically before the collision.

The man was apparently wandering around and appeared to be intoxicated before he got on his bicycle and rode "right into traffic," according to the witness.

The rider was hit by a van as it turned the corner.

There are reports of a cyclist being hit by a vehicle at Hollywood Road and Highway 33 in Rutland about noon on Thursday.

Police, fire and ambulance all attended.

The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
