Terrific Tiny Tim Toy Drive

Kelowna's Coast Capri Hotel was packed full of Holiday Spirit Thursday morning for the 18th annual Tiny Tim Breakfast.

''This event supports families in need here in our community. We have asked the community to come in this morning and bring a new, unwrapped toy or a cash donation, and all of those go to support the Salvation Army's Christmas Blessing program over this Christmas season," said Pastor Darryl Burry.

Last year, 1,200 toys were collected and $6,500 in cash was raised – but this year demand is expected to be record breaking.

"It looks like it's going to be pretty close to being a record year for us. It brings Christmas to a lot of people who are struggling financially, and I think for the people that donate, it's a feel good feeling as well," said Kari Purvis, catering manager at the Coast Capri.

Burry says the annual campaign not only puts a smile on children's faces, but parents' as well.

"In a couple of weeks, hundreds of parents will walk through the toy-depot at Kelowna Community Church who will get to pick something out for their children to open on Christmas day," he said.
