Kelowna RCMP are warning of the apparent return of a door-to-door scam.
Police say an alleged fraudster solicited cash from local residents and motel guests on Lakeshore Road, Thursday.
The well-dressed con artist tends to target the elderly and will often canvass door to door, telling a fictitious story about having a broken-down vehicle, asking for cash to pay for a tow truck.
“We understand that a motel guest may have been convinced to loan this suspect $150,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
Police commended the motel for alerting guests, but urge the public to be cautious and ask anyone who has been conned to call Const. Cherly Duggan at 250-762-3300.
