Kelowna rent prices jump

So much for more affordable housing.

The average rent price in Kelowna shot up in October, increasing nearly six per cent for a one-bedroom apartment. The average price of a two-bedroom unit, meanwhile, jumped 3.2 per cent.

The figures were released Thursday by PadMapper, which analyzes rental data from hundreds of thousands of listings across Canada.

The average one-bedroom price in Kelowna in October was $1,280, which makes it the seventh most expensive market in the country. It was the nation’s eighth most expensive price in September.

The average October cost of a two-bedroom apartment in Kelowna was $1,600, which is also the seventh most expensive price in the nation.

Kelowna’s one-bedroom average is 13.3 per cent more than it was in October 2017.
