Roundabout trashed in crash

A downtown Kelowna roundabout was left in a mess after a tractor-trailer apparently mowed down a sign and several bollards.

A witness tells Castanet the big rig ran over the poles about 7 p.m. at the roundabout on Water Street, in front of City Hall.

The driver attempted to take off, "but the semi had pieces dragging from the collision," the witness says.

Police are now on the scene.

It's not known if the driver was arrested or ticketed.
