Ride 'reaches' new heights

Christmas came early for Kelowna's People In Motion Society.

The annual Ride To Reach charitable motorcycle ride raised a whopping $29,100 for the organization.

Ride to Reach learned People In Motion was in desperate need of replacing its aging wheelchair accessible bus.

Together with a further $27,000 provincial grant, the group was able to purchase a newer bus to continue its service to people with disabilities and seniors with special needs in the Okanagan.

The society also provides recreational programs that include sports like adaptive downhill and cross country skiing, snow shoeing, wheelchair basketball, power wheelchair soccer, and wheelchair curling, along with a lift-equipped van loan service.

Ride To Reach was established in 2011 by Justin O’Connor with Sotheby’s International Realty and Tim Kasten from Thompson Rivers University. Each year, the group of friends get together to help raise funds while discovering new places on their motorcycles.
