Bail denied a third time

A man accused of robbing a West Kelowna hunting store at gunpoint and making off with a bag full of handguns has been denied bail – again.

David Huck, 26, was arrested in June 2017, two months after Antler Creek Outfitters was robbed on March 28.

Later that day, the stolen Ford truck the suspects used to flee the scene was found ablaze in an empty lot on Majoros Road. Two of the stolen guns later turned up in Prince George.

Huck was arrested in Kamloops on June 2 and charged with robbery, using an imitation firearm and disguising his face, along with a charge of arson from two days before the robbery.

He has remained in custody following his arrest, after he was denied bail in August 2017, and again in June 2018.

On Thursday, Huck once again applied for bail, but his application was dismissed.

Huck's three-week jury trial is scheduled to begin in February.

Following the robbery, Antler Creek Outfitters owner Larry Wilkins described the terrifying ordeal.

“There were two guys. One stayed by the door with a gun, and the other one loaded up a bunch of handguns in a gunny sack,” said Wilkins. “When you have a gun pointed at you and they could pull the trigger at any moment, you don't know. You just don't know what to do.”

Police say the second man involved in the robbery has since died.
