Norm Fix came to Kelowna’s Greyhound depot Wednesday night to see the the last bus leave the station.
“I’m very excited to be here for the last bus, because I was here for the first bus,” Fix said. “My wife and I owned the property and built this building for Kelowna (in 1985), and we got a little bit (choked up) because it’s the end of a long era. I’ve worked at Greyhound since I was 21 years old.
“So it’s kinda sad in one way, but then in another way that was the way things were going. We’re kind of excited to just get a picture of the last one driving out and going on with our lives.”
Greyhound ended decades of service in Western Canada on Wednesday, pulling up stakes for financial reasons in a move that was announced in July. The last bus to leave the city, headed for Kamloops, rolled onto Leckie Road at its exact departure time of 5:30 p.m.
