Teacher under house arrest

A former West Kelowna high school teacher facing child luring and sexual assault charges remains under 24-hour house arrest.

Bradley Furman made a brief appearance in Kelowna court Thursday, where the conditions of his bail were altered slightly.

Last Wednesday, Furman was released on bail under strict conditions, which included 24-hour house arrest enforced by an electronic monitoring bracelet.

The former teacher is facing several charges, including sexual assault, two counts of sexual exploitation of a young person, luring a child and attempting to pervert justice. He's also facing several charges of breaching previous bail conditions, as recent as three weeks ago.

On Thursday, Furman's bail conditions were altered to allow him to leave his home with the specific written permission of his bail supervisor, for things like doctor appointments. He must be under the direct supervision of his mother, father or sister for those trips.

An arraignment hearing Thursday was adjourned, due to the large amount of evidence in the case that the Crown and defence are going through.

Furman will be back before the court on Nov. 8.
