'Chain' embraces diversity

Madison Erhardt

October has been declared Community Inclusion Month in Kelowna.

An "inclusion chain" was formed outside City Hall on Wednesday, celebrating individuals with diverse abilities across the province.

The event, organized by Pathways Abilities Society, usually happens on the first Tuesday in October, but it was delayed this year due to weather. Pathways provides services to the differently abled.

“All individuals matter, regardless of their ability,” explains Pathways’ executive director Charisse Daley.

“This is an important event for us to raise awareness and acknowledge the contribution of all individuals in the community. While it was disappointing to have to move the event this year, we’re pleased we were able to co-ordinate a new date that works for the city and allows the mayor to attend,” Daley added.
