Swiped wallet on camera

A Kelowna woman was able to get a good look at the man who stole her wallet Friday night, after the theft was captured on a security camera.

Sam Davis was at the Capri Bowling Lanes Friday night for a private function at about 7:30 p.m. While she was focused on bowling strikes, she had left a few of her possessions, including her wallet, on the table.

Since everyone at the bowling alley was part of the private function, she didn't give much thought to leaving her things unattended.

“This guy walked in and was hanging around the back, so one of the people who worked there went up to him and was like, 'Hi, do you need a ticket or a drink or can I help you with anything' and he was like 'No, I'm just waiting for somebody,'” Davis said, after reviewing surveillance footage.

“Then he sat down across from our table while we were all bowling and then he swiped it and left.”

She didn't have much cash in the wallet, but she's out all of her ID and debit and credit cards along with a few gift cards. She says the Kate Spade wallet was the most valuable thing stolen.

Davis has filed a police report and the footage, clearly showing the thief's face, was turned over to police.

“I have no hopes of getting my wallet back but if he could not do it to somebody else that would be ideal,” Davis said.

Last month, an ATM was stolen from the Capri Bowling Lanes in the middle of the night.
