Bands pack Kelowna venues

The first night of the Breakout West music festival kicked off in the Kelowna Thursday night.

Halifax's Like A Motorcycle, Vancouver's Little Destroyer and Kelowna's own The Wild rocked the Kelowna Community Theatre for the kick off show, while several bands from across Canada played at Fernando's Pub and Sapphire nightclub late into the evening. 

The festival has brought more than 60 bands to Kelowna for the weekend, along with hundreds of others in the music industry looking to connect with new bands.

Thursday night saw Vancouver's Luca Fogale, Edmonton's Jesse and the Dandelions and nêhiyawak, and Winnipeg's Warming play at the packed Fernando's Pub, while Sapphire nightclub hosted Alberta's Cristian De La Luna, Nunavut's The Jerry Cans, Vancouver's Leisure Club, and Kelowna's own Tiger Moon.

The music continues Friday and Saturday, with shows branching out to other venues including BNA Brewing, Doc Willoughby's, Milkcrate Records, Muninn's Post, The Grateful Fed, the New Arts Collective, Doja Coffee Shop and Craft Beer Market.
