Thief had many targets

A resident of an apartment complex in Rutland wants the public to be on the lookout for a woman who targeted at least two homes over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Surveillance video shows the woman casing a home in the Mission about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, then entering the apartment building in Rutland just after 8 p.m.

The thief used a screwdriver or other tool to crack open the community mailbox in the lobby.

"You can physically see her walk out with mail," the woman in Rutland, who did not want to be identified, told Castanet.

"She tried to open up every vehicle as well. I don't know if she got anything, but she did give up her boots to steal somebody's male shoes that were in our parking garage."

The incident has been reported to police.
