Drier weather through week

While daytime highs aren't expected to get above 13 C anytime soon, conditions should dry out in the Okanagan this week.

After a wet long weekend, the skies are forecast to remain cloudy, with a brief reprieve Thursday.

“It should remain fairly dry, then into Thursday we start to see some sunny skies. However, that's just a little peek into what's going to happen,” says Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon.

“Friday is actually going to (see) a cold front moving through, giving a slight chance of showers and gusty winds.”

At higher elevations, Sekhon says there's a greater chance of precipitation that could fall as snow, as we saw on the Okanagan Connector and the Coquihalla last week.

If the forecast holds, Saturday should kick off a beautiful fall weekend.

“That's when we really get into the sunshine and fairly nice weather,” Sekhon said.

Sunny skies and a high of 11 C are forecast for Saturday, while Sunday is expected to remain sunny, with temperatures hitting 13 C.

With clear skies expected through the weekend, Sekhon says we can expect to see frost on the ground in the mornings, as temperatures may dip below freezing overnight.
