Record low temperatures

The trend of unseasonably cool weather in the Okanagan continues, even breaking a record in Kelowna on Friday.

The previous record for the lowest maximum temperature hit on Sept. 14 in Kelowna was 13.9 C, but temperatures only reached 13.2 C on Friday. The recorded data dates back to 1899.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature hit 13.7 C, the fourth lowest maximum temperature recorded in Kelowna.

Friday evening saw heavy rain in downtown Kelowna as well, although only 0.6 millimetres was recorded at the Kelowna airport. Temperatures hit a low of 6 C.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-teens through the weekend, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

While the sun is forecast to show up Tuesday, more rain is expected in the later part of next week.
