Water main fully repaired

UPDATE: 4:00 p.m.

A water main that broke early Saturday, shutting off or reducing water service to about 50 homes in the Lower Mission area, has been fixed.

City crews worked to fix the break in the Vintage Terrace Road area Saturday, finishing their work before 3:30 p.m.

"Residents should see normal water pressure in their houses, but they may experience discoloured water," said the City of Kelowna's Brad Stewart. "We encourage them to run the cold water until the water runs clear."

Any residents with additional concerns can call the city at 250-469-8402.

UPDATE: 2:10 p.m.

City of Kelowna crews are working to repair a water main break that has impacted water service at about 50 homes in the Lower Mission area Saturday.

The break occurred near Vintage Terrace Road, off Lakeshore Road, and crews hope to have it fixed by about 5 p.m.

"They're working a fairly steep slope right now, so it's challenging to make sure that they can repair the main break in a safe manner," said Brad Stewart, water supply and pump station supervisor with the city.

Stewart says they aren't sure what caused the break at this time.

Once the break is repaired, Stewart says residents who were affected may have cloudy water, and he suggests running the taps until the water clears.

A city water main has reportedly broken, causing the issue.

Castanet is awaiting more detailed information, including when residents can expect their water to return, from the City of Kelowna.
