Bizarre scene at City Hall

It didn't take long for Kelowna bylaw officers to deal with a potentially dangerous situation in city council chambers, Monday.

Mayor Colin Basran called a brief halt to proceedings after a man, who identified himself as Daniel, began removing the contents of a backpack on the floor and seats.

Bylaw manager David Gazley says he received a call from city clerk Stephen Fleming asking he send an officer to council chambers to deal with the incident.

"When we got there, Stephen was already dealing with the man," said Gazley.

The officer asked Daniel to pack up his belongings and join him outside to discuss his issues.

Gazley said the man was escorted out, and left.
