Spectacular fire at night

The wildfire burning in Okanagan Mountain Park put on a spectacular show Wednesday night.

Firefighters continue to battle the blaze, burning in rocky terrain along the shore of Okanagan Lake.

Its location makes it highly visible from across the water in Peachland, and photographers have been having a heyday with the dramatic imagery.

The Goode's Creek fire is estimated at 1,370 hectares in size and is still burning out of control.

"Today's objectives consist of continuing to patrol and extinguishing any hot spots. Fire equipment will be demobilized in areas where it is no longer needed," the BC Wildfire Service website says.

Smoke will continue to be visible. The perimeters of the Okanagan Complex fires are being mopped up, and any smoke will be from fuels burning within the middle.
