Thousands peruse local art

The fourth annual Arts on the Avenue closed down Kelowna's main drag between Water Street and Ellis Street for the day, allowing the arts community a chance to show off their pieces to locals and tourists alike.

Renata Mills, executive director of host organization Festivals Kelowna, has been hosting events in the city for 20 years, and she says she's seen a recent positive shift downtown.

“Every night now, I'm seeing more and more people coming downtown, which is a really cool vibe, the whole downtown has shifted,” Mills said.

“This is super neat to see this transition.”

Arts on the Avenue ran from 4 – 10 p.m., and Mills estimated upwards of 4,000 came through.

“It's just been steady, and lots of visitors to the community that are super keen on this kind of event,” she said.
