Unwanted sailboat?

UPDATE 12:15 p.m.

Kelowna RCMP tell Castanet they have not received any missing boat reports in connection with the sailboat washed up on the beach on Lakeshore Road by the Bluebird Road South Beach access.
 
Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says, "If contacted by the general public, the RCMP would attempt to identify and contact a registered owner for any abandoned vessel. Transport Canada would also be notified. Ultimately it's up to the registered owner of that boat and/or Transport Canada to safely remove the vessel."

Castanet has also reached out to Transport Canada for clarification on whose jurisdiction the boat would fall under if the owners do not come forward to claim the vessel.

UPDATE 8:05 a.m.

Has this sailboat been abandoned? A sailboat has been beached in the same spot since the wind storm the valley got at the end of June, almost 3 weeks ago.

So far the owners have not showed up to recover their vessel or it appears to check on its water worthiness.

One Kelowna resident who drives by the beach everyday tells Castanet, "It's kind of sad that the owners have let it sit there for so long."

Are you missing a sailboat?

If so, you might want to check out the beach on Lakeshore Road by the Bluebird Road South Beach access.

Castanet has received a picture of a sailboat washed up on the beach near Lakeshore Road and Lexington Drive.

No word on how the boat broke away from its moorings and wound up washed up near Bluebird beach.
