Big donors keep kids rolling

Beep! Beep! All aboard the new Boys and Girls Club bus!

The Colin and Lois Pritchard Foundation and Kelowna Rotary Clubs have donated $75,550 to the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs for the purchase of a new 24-passenger bus.

The new wheels will transport kids safely to school every morning, and bring them to the club for after-school programs. During the summer, it will be used to carry kids to activities around the Okanagan.

“Words can hardly convey our thanks,” says Boys and Girls Clubs CEO Diane Entwistle. “The collective contribution ... is a true example of community coming together to help children and youth in Kelowna.”

Members from Kelowna's eight Rotary Clubs and their sponsors came together to make the Rotary donation, said Tony French, from the Rotary Club of Kelowna Foundation. They were challenged by the Pritchards to match a $36,000 donation, and came up with $39,550.

“As both a Rotarian and a community member, it is a pleasure ... to contribute to the purchase of the bus, which will be used for years to come,“ said Colin Pritchard.
