UPDATE: 12:35 p.m.

A North Okanagan man is suffering serious injuries after being stabbed early Sunday morning on Lakeshore Road.

A wife and husband who were driving along Lakeshore Road noticed a woman waving frantically at them as they were travelling by at about 2:40 a.m.

“There was the girlfriend and one other lady there and they were over top of him,” he said.

“He had a massive gash on his left side, about eight to 10 inches long and two inches wide.”

They described it as awful and wide open.

“There was blood everywhere,” he said.

The 35-year-old man was rushed to hospital and sustained serious, potentially life threatening stab wounds.

“There was a group of people and they were in a bit of an argument and then she left and went inside for a minute and then when she came back he had been stabbed and they ran off,” he said.

Kelowna RCMP arrested three individuals in proximity to the scene of the stabbing.

“One of our police canines was brought to the scene to assist with a search for any evidence connected to the crime,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Bloodied clothing and broken glass lay on the road as investigators placed police markers at the crime scene on Sunday morning.
